I got recommended this place by a friend of mine and let me tell ya, what a surprise!
By this point, I’ve been to my fair share of boba shops in the Southern California area. Most are disappointing, few are good, and very few are excellent. OMOMO ended up being one of those very few; it was excellent.
The drive down to Chino Hills was long (I mean, who drives 60 miles for boba? Crazy people like us, that’s who.) and the first time we went, the weather was really hot. We were in a neighborhood we don’t visit very often and it was a Saturday afternoon we could have literally spent doing anything else. I was curious though and since we didn’t have any prior engagements, we decided to give it a try.
I can’t say I was expecting much. The website was clean and nice and the drinks looked delicious, but I’ve seen my fair share of good photography so I didn’t think the drink I saw on paper was the drink I would be getting. Once we got there though, we were pretty surprised by the line we saw forming outside their doors. And especially more so since OMOMO is a little boba shop located in a really unimpressive looking plaza (everything is some shade of beige). Though to be fair, they’re situated right next to a 99 Ranch Market, which probably helps their sales and rep.

Opposite to the outside, the interior is simple and clean; small but homey. They had their tables and chairs blocked off when we visited (being careful and all) but it gave me the impression that a lot of students would love hanging out with their friends and family there. Since those social gatherings have been put on hold, they managed the crowd like an assembly line. Luckily, their service was quick and clean, their menu not toooo long, so it didn’t take long for us to choose and grab our drinks.
Here’s the menu:

On this hot hot hot weather day, I decided to go for the OMOMO Matcha (I was feeling daring tempting fate with a milky beverage, but it looked so good!) and my sister went for a seasonal drink, the Itchy Peachy.
The Itchy Peachy isn’t on their regular menu so we found out about it when we walked up to the register and saw these posters:

But, oh my goodness, look at how beautiful these drinks are. A feast for the eyes, that’s for sure. I was wrong about it not looking like they had it in the pictures.

Look at that marbling pattern! It almost feels like a waste to drink.
And here’s a pic of the lids cause they hand place them and that deserves some recognition:

After taking all the pictures for this blog, we hopped back into the car and took our first sips. And my goodness gracious…. It’s…
…….
…….
…….
(sorry, still drinking)…….
…….(one more sip, I promise)…….
Wow! Really, just wow! How could a drink be that good?
I almost thought it was cause I was dehydrated and it was so hot, but we went back the following weekend and, wow! Still good!
Here are some pics of what we got the second time around:

We had to be sure it wasn’t a fluke, so we of course went for another visit. And now? We just rue the fact that there isn’t an OMOMO closer to us. Yes, don’t judge, we are definitely pouting.
Anyway, how to describe the flavors of these drinks?
The first thing that comes to mind is just how fresh it is; they use fresh fruits and fresh milks and fresh everything! At least, that’s what I saw in the fridge and what it tastes like. It tasted so much better than what we expected, especially considering a lot of other boba places use a lot of syrups and powders these days. Everything is booming with fresh flavors here with fruits dancing like they’re having a party right in the middle of your tongue.
Oh me, oh my, indeed.
When we went back for round 2, we were tempted to buy two drinks each. But we figured we’d enjoy the drinks more if it was fresh so we only got three instead (huge diff, I know!); we knew we would be coming back eventually, so the choices this time were the Oreo Brulee Green Tea, the Grapefruit Green Tea, and the Lemon Fruit Yakult.
Oheeheehoohoo, it was very good; no regrets AT ALL. That’s now five drinks we’ve tried and I have to say, my favorite of the five so far has got to be their special, the OMOMO Matcha. It’s nice and milky and rich… I’ve got to go back soon and get that again. Just thinking about it is making me drool.
Anyway, totally recommend. Totally. In fact, you should go now. Like, right now. Go forth, friend, and make merry with a drink in hand, and another drink in the other!
Until after you finish your drinks, then! Toodle-loo!
